Inexpensive Wine Deserves a Serious Review.
Great wine doesn’t have to be expensive, and inexpensive wine doesn’t have to be judged apologetically or ignored completely. Twist Top Confidential explores affordable wines with the same attention to detail usually reserved for bottles costing far more.
What “Elegantly Reviewed” Means.
We believe a bottle’s price shouldn’t determine how seriously we review it. Every wine deserves to be tasted for what it is and considered in context. Most importantly, we want to know whether it is worth drinking and worth buying again.
We aren’t looking for inexpensive wines that taste like expensive wines. We’re looking for wines that are enjoyable and offer good value. Sometimes that’s a very good $9 bottle. Spending a few dollars more, often, but not always, makes a noticeable difference.
How We Review Wine.
Every wine is tasted with its price in mind, but price doesn’t excuse a bad wine. We consider appearance, aroma, taste, balance, finish, and overall enjoyment. We also consider value. A $10 wine and a $20 wine may receive the same rating for very different reasons.
Our reviews are opinions, not competitions or advertisements. The goal is simple: to help you decide whether a bottle is worth your money.
Who I Am.
I’m Kenneth ‘Ken’ Hess, the person behind Twist Top Confidential. I created the site to talk about affordable wine without pretension. I enjoy wine, but I don’t believe enjoying it requires a high price or a pretentious vocabulary.
The reviews here reflect what I actually taste and what I think after tasting the wine. You might agree with me. You might not. Either way, I hope the review gives you enough information to decide whether you want to try the bottle yourself.
Responsible Enjoyment.
Wine is meant to be enjoyed in moderation. Twist Top Confidential encourages responsible drinking. Enjoy the wine, enjoy the experience, and know when you’ve had enough.
Never drink and drive, and please respect the laws regarding alcohol where you live.
